Next up for Zealots & Mystics will be the Twin Cities Chekhov Festival at the Bryant Lake Bowl in February 2008. We're performing two shows, Swan Song and On the Harmful Effects of Tobacco.
Swan Song was Chekhov's first vaudeville sketch and a wonderful example of his "tragicomic" writings. An aging actor, having fallen asleep after a performance, questions his talent and the choices he made in his life. Featuring Rick Fields and Eric Wood.
On the Harmful Effects of Tobacco
Chekhov originally wrote this piece in 1886 and during the next six years, he re-wrote it half a dozen times. The monologue ranges from comic to tragic as Ivan Ivanovitch Nyukhin delivers a lecture on the harmfulness of tobacco at the request, in a manner of speaking, of his wife. Featuring David Lind.
